Serevent is a bronchodilator used to prevent asthma attacks.

General information

Serevent is used to prevent asthma attacks. It works by relaxing muscles in the airways to improve breathing. It will not treat an asthma attack that has already begun. Serevent is also used to cure chronic obstructive pulmonary disease involving emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Serevent is a bronchodilator.

Directions

Use the medication as directed by your doctor. Take it twice every day. Allow at least 12 hours to pass before you use the medicine again. The recommended dose depends from the previous cure of asthma. Shake it before each intake and use the inhaler in horizontal position. Be careful with getting this medication in your eyes.

Precautions

Talk with your doctor if your medication doesn’t seem to work as well in treating or preventing attacks and if an asthma attack is more dangerous. May be you’ll need 4 or more inhalations during 24 hours for 2 days or more.

Contraindications

Avoid using the drug if you had an allergic reaction to the components.

Drug interaction

Serevent can cooperate with airway-opening medicine, hypertension medications, MAO inhibitors, Tricyclic antidepressants, diuretics and remember that the interactions with one of them doesn’t mean that you need to stop using some of them. Tell your doctor about all medications you use.

Possible side effect

The drug may cause an allergy, thorax pain, irregular heartbeat, tremble, disturbing, eruption, muscle feebleness or deterioration of asthma symptoms, headache, sickness, retching and belly disorder. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.

Missed dose

Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Don’t take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Overdose

Call emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. Overdose symptoms may include insomnia, abnormal heartbeat, thorax pain, dry mouth or giddiness.

Storage

Store your medicines at room temperature between between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
